This suite pays tribute to Madame de Sévigné, a major epistolary figure of the 17th century, a woman of wit and sensitivity whose letters have endured through the centuries for their elegance, subtlety and keen insight into the world. Her family destiny is tragically linked to the Île de Ré, as her father, the Baron de Chantal, lost his life during the siege of the island in 1627 and was later laid to rest in Saint-Martin-de-Ré. An intimate and romantic story, deeply woven into the memory of this place.
