The Sea
At the fish auction on the port (just ten metres from the Hôtel de Toiras), as well as at the covered market, you will find the finest catches: sea bass, sole and sardines from the Pertuis, sea bream and monkfish from the North Atlantic. Not to mention crustaceans and shellfish, and oysters, now available all year round on the island.
Another treasure of Ré: salt, the fruit of sea, sun and wind. Fleur de sel is its most subtle expression.
